Born on September 11, 1938, in Benin City, Archbishop Benson Andrew Idahosa hailed from the Idahosa-Ezomo family. Despite a challenging childhood marred by illness, he emerged as a beacon of hope, proving that adversities can be surmounted with determination and faith.

Early Life and Education: Idahosa faced life-threatening challenges right from his birth. Due to recurring fainting spells, his father left him on a garbage heap. However, destiny had other plans for him. With time, he overcame his health challenges and grew stronger both mentally and physically. A staunch believer in education, Idahosa studied at the Salvation Army School, Benin City, and the Methodist School, Owo. He later earned a Diploma in Business Administration and a Higher Diploma in Office Management through a correspondence program with the London Benneth College, all while working at the Bata Shoe Company.

Ministry and Evangelism: In 1962, at just 24, Idahosa stepped into ministry, showing an unmatched zeal for God’s work. He leveraged his cultural background to reach out to surrounding Bini villages, conducting evangelistic crusades marked by miracles and healings. His first such crusade was in 1961 at Ajagbodudu, and he continued these endeavors throughout his life. His commitment to theological education also remained steadfast, leading him to obtain several degrees.

Achievements and Recognition: Popularly known as “Papa”, Idahosa’s reputation for performing miracles, including raising the dead, catapulted him to international fame. His impact was profound, not only in the spiritual realm but also in the broader social and community spheres.
