Born in 1971 in Akwa Ibom, Nigeria, to late Elder Udoaka Mathew Umontuen and Deaconess Alice Udoaka Umontuen, he embodies the spirit of excellence and dedication in everything he does. Dr. Umontuen’s educational background is vast and impressive. He attended Lutheran Primary School Nung Oku Ekanem, Government Secondary School Afaha Eket, and Science School Ndon Eyo before obtaining a National Diploma in Mathematics and Statistics from the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa State. He went on to earn a Higher National Diploma in Statistics from the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu, followed by a BSc and Master’s Degree in Education Management and Planning from Imo State University. Dr. Umontuen’s thirst for knowledge led him to obtain a Doctoral Fellowship in Entrepreneurship and Technical Education from the University College of Christian Mission (UCCL), United States of America.

Dr. Umontuen’s achievements go beyond academia. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Consultants Nigeria, Fellow of the Institute of Management Specialists, and Doctoral Fellow of the National Association for the Advancement of Knowledge. He is also a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary International, showcasing his commitment to service and philanthropy.

With a career spanning over three decades, Dr. Umontuen has left an indelible mark on the education and healthcare sectors in Nigeria. His meteoric rise to prominence began with a passion for teaching and a burning desire to make a difference in the lives of others. He further expanded his impact by establishing the College of Nursing Sciences Obohia Ndoki in Abia State in 2021, and more recently, Maurid College of Nursing Sciences in Mbiaso Akwa Ibom State, licensed by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
