The Inventor Of The First Android-Powered Tablet In Nigeria

Saheed Adepoju

With the increasing production and shipment of technological devices like tablets to Africa, there arises a need for designing tablets specifically for the African market. Fortunately, a Nigerian inventor named Saheed Adepoju rose to the occasion and created the INYE-1 and INYE-2 tablets.

BACKGROUND

Saheed Adepoju, along with his company Encipher Limited, a Nigerian-based technology company, introduced the first Android-powered tablet in Nigeria. The INYE-1 was unveiled in April 2010 and features a 7-inch resistive touchscreen. It runs on the Android 2.1 operating system and allows users to connect to the internet through its built-in Wi-Fi card and an external 3G modem from GSM networks.

In May 2011, the INYE-2 was launched as an 8-inch capacitive touchscreen tablet. It operates on the Android 2.2 operating system and provides internet access via the built-in Wi-Fi card and an integrated SIM card. Unlike its predecessor, which offers a battery life of three hours, the INYE-2 boasts approximately eight hours of battery life.
